Rest
and Recuperation, and a Job Faithfully Completed
Team Two got up at 4:30 to leave at 5:30 to finish their house, along
with a few members of Team One who would help with the drywall. Most of
T1 had the chance to sleep in, check e-mail, wash clothes (with a NON
automatic washer), or help with birthday preparations for Jesse, one of
the YWAM staff. The morning went quickly, with most of T2 coming back
for lunch and siesta. Some of T2 was taken to a nearby store to buy gifts
for the family receiving the house. After siesta, the YWAM staff and T1
members did a major work project at the church we are staying at. A wire
fence attached to the church was removed, and the steep hill it was on
was graded by hand for car parking for the church congregation. It proved
that many hands make light (yet still hot) work. With all hands helping,
the project was completed within a few hours. Large concrete pieces and
the steel wires that anchored them into the earth were removed, and the
hill was shoveled and raked into a usable grade.
The
afternoon turned into evening as the members of T2 that remained at the
church waited to hear that the house was ready for dedication. It was
not until 9:30 PM that they were picked up for the dedication ceremony.
All members of T2 returned around 11:00 PM, thoroughly exhausted, dirty,
and yet very encouraged. They had been faithful through the many trials
they faced in building the house, and God had filled them with the sense
of His pleasure and of a job well done. We have an awesome God AND awesome
students!
