CBSM Mission to Mexico 2002
Day 6: July
6th, 2002
Mexico: the nights are hot and the days are long! We
spent the day getting to know the families and children in the neighborhood.
The ladies of the church were soaking a large pot of chili peppers for
tonight's' dinner/concert/fundraiser at the church. Most of the students
went out to the park to play with the local children a game of soccer.
The students lost both games. Some of the CBSM staff spent part of the
day fixing toilets, showers, and sinks in the church. At lunchtime, everyone
came out of the sun, (siesta is taken seriously here) and cooled off in
the (relative) shade of the church's' ground floor. We played games, read
our Bibles, or just napped. Daren and Cole have invented a new CBSM snack:
GummieBears De Melto. Bruce had left a bag of the tasty critters in the
van, and they melted into one big, colorful and, (we are told tasty),
gooey mess. The
church fundraiser began on time, and we were invited as honored guests.
(We will perform for the church during tomorrow's' service). We were served
a good variety of Mexican food, some familiar, and some not so familiar.
The two bands that played were good.....and LOUD! With full tummies and
buzzing ears, we helped to tidy up after the fiesta and got ourselves
ready for a very warm night of sleep, and another long day tomorrow. BTW,
Cole S. has shared some of the digital pix he took of todays' soccer game!
