TEAM LIRCAY
Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Today was the last day we spend in Lircay! We enjoyed our last meal, breakfast in the town of Lircay and then immediately departed upon a three hour bus ride to Huancavalica. During this trip the device of choice for most of the team was an iPod. While most people slept while listening to iPods, we passed some of the most beautiful mountian scenery ever. After ariving in Huancavalica, we unpacked our bags and got settled into our rooms at the Hotel Presidente, a Peruvian five star hotel. Immediately following this, the team had its first and only experience with the Peruvian dish of qui, or guinea pig. After returning to the hotel to rest, we performed our first service, which included Peter Johnson preaching, for the town. After this service, one of the men, named Gregorio, stepped foward and asked to be saved. Following the service we had an excellent devotional time run by myself and Sarah Montoya. From there we had pizza for dinner and then attended a youth service in the town. After mingling and making friends with the Peuvian youth after the service, we headed back to the hotel for a good nights rest and to make preparations for ou early monrning departure for Lima. All in all a good day of safe travel, ministry and good food.

Hola from Huancavelica!
Today has been AWESOME!! However, it is now 9:45 pm and we need to leave at 5:00 am.
We were up early for breakfast and a tearful good-bye to Lircay. Pastor Dante and his wife joined us on the bus and presented everyone with a special handmade gift.
The trip to Huancavelica was uneventful and we made good time, about three hours. I can not begin to describe the beauty of the scenery from the bus. I was literally glued to the window to glimpse every llama, alpaca, bird and butterfly. The terrain is spectacular and evidences our awesome God.
We had lunch in Huancavelica and it was our opportunity to sample guinea pig complete with heads. Ask Peter Johnson how it was!
After lunch we presented a service in the square. Many people watched the dramas and then Peter gave a salvation message. It was an excellent message and one gentleman said that he wanted what Peter had and accepted the Lord.
We had pizza for dinner - a big hit with the kids. Actually I really liked the crust and toppings better than most US pizza.
After dinner we attended and participated  in a servie at the local church. The students presented another drama and we all sang. Mathew presented the message. The gentleman who had accepted Christ in the sqaure attended the service with his family and was presented to the congregation.
Your children are awesome ... and I need to give Scott the opportunity to write his blog for today.
Bruce said to alert you that we may not be able to get today´s pictures posted tomorrow. We have a minimum of 13 hours on the bus ahead of us.
God bless you for all of your prayers!
