Mission Trip to Las Vegas, Day Eight:
July 12th 2003

By Jerri Cacapardo

Whew! Today was hot! Half of us got to the base on time. We left right away to the Calvary Outreach. We set-up and helped serve food. I got sick again and had to leave, but one of the guys who gave me a ton of verses was asking where I was, so that was encouraging. Unfortunately, I had the rare privilege of cutting 800 foot long hot dogs! My life is so much more completeafter that! Anyway....

After the outreach,I recovered somewhat and was able to rejoin the group as we went to the nursing home. We shared dramas and testimonies, and talked with the residents afterwards. Some of the residents were a blast to talk to and blessed us in so many ways.

After that, we were on the road again. This time we all went to to the shopping mall at Caesars Palace. I was in a group with Peter and Amber, and God layed it on our hearts to pray against materialism and rebuke the numbing effect of the earning/spending/consuming cycle some many of us are trapped in. We also prayed against the pornographic videos and magazines sold in the "family-friendly" music store, Virgin Records.

Later that evening, we debriefed and made plans for activities for tommoow, our last full day!
