Peru Team Day #6

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

Today was so much fun!!!!! It was the first day I got to do a work project in the morning because I was sick most of the mornings. We painted gates in one of my favorite colors, corn on the cob yellow. Then another group helped finish getting trash and old desks off of the roof of the school. We then went back to where we were staying and had lunch. We had chicken and rice of course, but then we also had Yuca. I then got yelled at by one of the Peruvians on the team because I was “SAYING IT ALLLLLL WRONG”, I know right! Americans and their inability to not say things correctly! Then after lunch we had to practice our skit for VBS but of course that didn’t go well because our VBS group was the most ADD out of all of them, so when we actually did our skit we improvised a bit. Then once we got back to the school we started playing with all the kids. Kenny Matney and I tought a bunch of the kids how to play taps which is one of my favorite games, although they didn’t quite get it though…hahaha. When it was time to start the Bible Story part of VBS we had them first play freeze dance because our story was the prodigal son and there is a part where he goes off and parties. Then we made our craft which was paper plates folded in half with beans and rice in them to make noise, but it didn’t work to well because the beans and rice kept falling out. Then we did our skit which, like I said, turned out pretty good! And at then end of the story the prodigal son the father throws a party for this returned son so what we did was have all the kids run up with their noise makers they made for the craft and we had a little dance party. Then like we do each day, we made a tunnel for the kids to run through on their way out and then handed out snacks. When the kids left that’s when it got intense! That’s when we TOTALLY creamed the Perales team in futbol…just kidding we tied, BUT STILL…WE DIDN’T LOSE!! And to add on to all the amazing time we have had, God has blessed us extreamly with the most beautiful weather I have ever seen out of the other two trips I have been on, we actually saw the sun a few times this week! Each time I come here I feel like I am learning more about my faith and my amazing team members. As a whole, God put it all together in a beautiful country with beautiful friends and leaders on this awesome CBSM peru trip!!
